Bendek or Bendet Bynard, 1811-1843
Bendek3 Bynard (Jacob2, Lewin1) was born 27 April 1811 in Rypin, Poland.[1] He was called Bendet Bynard, age 25, when he married Bayla Lemel in 1837. Bayla, daughter of Cadyk and Cywia Lemel, was 22. Banns had been posted in the synagogue for three weeks before the wedding took place on the 20th of February at 10 o’clock in the morning, with Rabbi Wolf Kupiec officiating.[2]
Bendet died six years later, on 1 April 1843 (13 April by the Julian calendar). His death was reported by his brother, Mosiek.[3] According to the record, both Bendet and Mosiek were wool cloth makers; they were probably in business together. Bendet was survived by his wife and three children: Jakob, Sara, and Jente-Chaja. Two of these children would die soon after their father: Jakob on 19 April[4] at the age of 3 weeks and Jente-Chaja, one year old, on 25 December.[5] The surviving daughter, Sara, married Kofman Krysztal in 1859.[6] She is called Sarah Binnard, “the orphan,” in the 1855 will of her uncle Michael Binnard, who resided in Montgomery, Alabama.[7]
